We are Central Iowa Practical Shooter’s (CIPS).
We are a non-profit organization.
Our club hosts match competition the first Sunday of every month. We regularly host 60 to 70 shooters and our membership is progressively growing. We currently have members from all walks of life. We welcome all levels of shooting ability. Our shooters currently range from active/reserve and retired military, current and former law enforcement, general shooting enthusiasts, and firearms instructors to beginning shooters. Our groups are broken out by men’s, women’s and junior shooter divisions. We see everything from “stock” to highly modified shooting equipment in our matches. Our goal is to continue to share our love of the sport with as many interested people as possible.
We have 4 divisions, Pistol Iron Sights, Pistol Optic Sights, PCC(Pistol caliber carbine) and Revolvers. We use Hit Factor scoring.
The competition year starts the first Sunday of November. Members dues are $60 per year. Range fees to be paid each month are $12 for the first gun and $8 for each additional gun. Non member or visitors are welcome to shoot a fun run in any of the divisions at those same range fee prices.
Registration can be done on Practiscore. See each month for the link
SAFETY
Safety is this clubs highest priority. The following rules must be followed. Failure to do so will result in a disqualification.
The range is considered to be a cold range. There are to be no loaded guns except at the stage to be shot, after the Range Officer gives the command to Load and make ready.
There is to be no gun handling except at the designated safety tables. Guns must be cased or holstered at all time unless you are at the safety table or while shooting a stage. No ammunition is allowed at the safety table.
While shooting a stage your gun must be pointed down range at all times. Breaking the 180 rule will result in a disqualification.
